Men?s Basketball Banquet Set for April 28

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University will hold a men's basketball banquet at Chaifetz Arena Sunday, April 28, to celebrate the 2012-13 season.

Tickets are $30 per person and may be purchased by calling the Billiken Ticket Office at 314-977-4SLU or by email at jahearn3@slu.edu. Tickets must be purchased by 5 p.m. Thursday, April 25. Tickets will not be available the day of the event.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for a reception, with the dinner and program slated to begin at 6 p.m. Guests will park in the Fred Weber VIP Lot and enter through the Chaifetz Arena VIP entrance on the west side of the building.

You may be recognized as a sponsor the banquet with a minimum giflt of $500. In exchange for your generosity, you or your organization will be recognized durign the program. If you would like to be sponsor, please contact Margo Lubus at 314-977-8180 or at lubusme@slu.edu.

The Billikens are coming off their best season in school history. Saint Louis, which finished with a school-record 28 victories, captured Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season and tournament titles. It was SLU's first outright regular-season conference crown since 1957. The top-seeded Billikens won their first A-10 tournament title by knocking off Charlotte, Butler and VCU at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

SLU received a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, its best-ever seeding. The Billikens defeated New Mexico State in the second round before falling to Oregon in the round of 32. For the first time in school history, the Billikens won NCAA Tournament games in consecutive seasons, as SLU also won a second-round game in 2011-12.

Additional highlights of the 2012-13 season include memorable victories against New Mexico, Butler and VCU at Chaifetz Arena. The Billikens, who were ranked as high as No. 13, had a school-record five victories against ranked opponents. Cody Ellis was named Sixth Man of the Year in the A-10, while Dwayne Evans was named first-team All-Conference. In addition, Kwamain Mitchell and Jordair Jett were named third-team All-Conference. Jett was named to the All-Defensive team, while Evans was an All-Academic team selection. Jim Crews earned National Coach of the Year plaudits from Sporting News and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Included in the celebration will be special recognition for Billiken seniors Cody Ellis, Femi John, Kwamain Mitchell and Cory Remekun
