Billikens Edge Bonnies in A-10 Opener, 3-2

Box Score ST. LOUIS – Sophomore forward Livi Logan-Wood scored the go-ahead goal in the 88th minute, and Saint Louis made it stand up for a 3-2 victory over St. Bonaventure Friday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium in the Atlantic 10 Conference opener for both teams.

Senior defender Jessie Jarrett and senior midfielder Tori Belgeri also scored for the Billikens (2-8-1, 1-0), who improved to 6-1-2 in A-10 openers. Belgeri's goal was the first of her career.

St. Bonaventure (2-6-1, 0-1) took an early lead on Molly Curry's fourth goal of the season at 3:03. Curry was assisted by Brittany Charles, who recorded her team-leading fourth helper of the season.

The score remained 1-0 until the 54:39 mark. Following a St. Bonaventure foul, Jarrett rifled a free kick from 25 yards out into the upper right corner for her second goal of the year and a 1-1 deadlock.

Belgeri put the Billikens on top at 65:06. After playing the ball to senior forward Maddie Gebauer, she maneuvered to the center of the field, received a return pass from Gebauer and beat St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Christina Sarokon from 12 yards out. The assist was Gebauer's first of the season.

The Bonnies tallied the equalizer a short time later when Lauren Hill, assisted by Stephanie Jenkins, picked up her second goal of the season at 67:38. But Logan-Wood buried her second marker of the year at the 87:05 mark, giving SLU the victory. Freshman forward Kirsten Clemens collected her first collegiate point by assisting on the play.

Saint Louis earned an 18-7 advantage in total shots, led by Jarrett, who had a game-high and career-high four shots on frame.

The Billikens are back in action Friday, Oct. 4, as they travel to Richmond for an A-10 match against the Spiders. Game time is 6:30 p.m. (CT).
