ST. LOUIS – Maddy Bush scored her first goal of the season and Cristina Rodriguez collected her fifth to lift Saint Louis past Fordham 2-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer action Friday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

Saint Louis evened its records at 7-7 overall and 2-2 in the A-10 with its second consecutive victory and first shutout of the season. Fordham fell to 6-7-1, 0-3-1.

Time was running out in the first half when Bush and Danielle Tolmais connected to put the Billikens on top. On a lengthy free kick from the left side, Tolmais served a beautifully flighted ball to Bush, who headed it past Fordham goalkeeper Ally White for a 1-0 SLU lead at 44:17. The assist was Tolmais' team-leading fifth of the season.

The Billikens didn't take long to double their lead coming out of the locker room. Rodriguez, who moved into sole possession of second place on the SLU scoring chart, found herself uncovered from eight yards out after taking a pass from Livi Logan-Wood, who registered her second assist. She drilled a shot into the bottom left corner of the net at 47:46.

Bush recorded a career-high three shots, and goalkeeper Hanna Benben made five saves.

The Billikens return to action Sunday, Oct. 19, when they host A-10 leader La Salle at 11 a.m. in their annual "Kicks Against Breast Cancer" game. SLU players will wear pink jerseys, which will be auctioned during the game with all proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
