COMING UP – Saint Louis women's soccer (8-8, 3-3 Atlantic 10) concludes the regular season this weekend with two games at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. The Billikens welcome VCU (8-4-4, 4-1-1) Friday, Oct. 31, for a 7 p.m. kickoff. George Washington (10-4-1, 3-2-1) is the opponent for the season finale Sunday, Nov. 2, at 11:30 a.m. The GW contest is the first game of a doubleheader that also features the SLU men's team taking on Rhode Island at 2 p.m.
SENIORS TO BE HONORED SUNDAY – The Billikens' senior class will be honored prior to Sunday's game, the group's final appearance at Hermann Stadium. The class consists of defender Maddy Bush, forward Lindsay Elking, defender Julia Merlo, defender Andrea Strebler and defender Mary Wright, as well as managers Meagan Schneider and Abbey Stock.
TICKET INFORMATION – Tickets for all women's soccer home games at Robert R. Hermann Stadium can be purchased at the gate, by phone at (314) 977-4SLU or online at www.slubillikens.com. Prices for single-game tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Groups of 20 or more receive discounted tickets for $4 apiece. Students with a valid SLU ID card receive free admission. One ticket will be good for both games Sunday.

ATLANTIC 10 STANDINGS – The Billikens have nine points and are tied with Saint Joseph's for seventh place in the A-10 standings. The top eight teams at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the A-10 Championship, hosted by Dayton Nov. 6-9. La Salle (18 points) leads the league, VCU (13) is in second place, and Dayton (12) stands third. Rhode Island, George Washington and Massachusetts are tied for fourth with 10 points apiece, followed by SLU and Saint Joseph's. Richmond (eight), George Mason (eight), Duquesne (seven), St. Bonaventure (six), Fordham (four) and Davidson (three) round out the standings.
BILLIKEN LEADERS – Fourteen different Saint Louis players have recorded at least one point, and 11 of those players have collected at least one goal. Kirsten Clemens tops the scoring chart with 18 points (7G, 4A) and is followed closely by Cristina Rodriguez with 16 points (6G, 4A). Lindsay Elking (4G, 5A) and Livi Logan-Wood (4G, 2A) have tallied 13 and 10 points, respectively, while Danielle Tolmais (2G, 5A) checks in with nine points. Goalkeeper Hanna Benben carries a 1.48 goals against average and has made 74 saves. The Billikens have out-shot their opponents 254-201 overall and 125-100 in shots on goal.
BILLIKENS COME ALIVE IN SECOND HALF, BLANK DAVIDSON – Saint Louis scored two second-half goals and defeated Davidson 2-0 Oct. 25 in Davidson, N.C. Mary Wright (Lindsay Elking assist) tallied her first goal of the year to put SLU in front, and Kirsten Clemens (Shaney Sakamoto assist) provided insurance with her team-leading seventh marker of the season. Sakamoto's assist was her first point as a Billiken. Hanna Benben made three saves and picked up her second shutout of the year.
BILLS' ATTACK PRODUCING RESULTS – Mary Wright became the 11th Billiken to score a goal this season when she tallied at Davidson. That is the highest number of goal scorers for SLU since 2009, and it ties for third most in program history … Kirsten Clemens' seven goals are the most scored by a Billiken since 2006 … with 31 goals this season, Saint Louis has easily surpassed last season's total of 19 ... SLU has 10 multi-goal games so far this season, twice as many as last season and two more than the Billikens produced the past two years combined … the Bills have tallied four goals in three contests, marking the first time since 2006 that the team has produced three four-goal games … SLU has four players with a double-digit point total (Clemens 18, Cristina Rodriguez 16, Lindsay Elking 13, Livi Logan-Wood 10) for the first time since 2009 … with 18 points, Clemens has become the first Billiken since 2006 to score that many.
BILLIKENS IN THE NATIONAL STATISTICS – Saint Louis ranks 37th in the nation in assists per game (1.94), 48th in points per game (5.81) and 54th in goals per game (1.94).
SLU IN THE A-10 STATISTICS – In the most recent Atlantic 10 Conference statistics report, the Billikens are second in corner kicks per game (6.19), third in goals per game (1.94) and shots per game (15.88), and fourth in points per game (5.81) and assists per game (1.94). Kirsten Clemens is seventh in shots per game (2.81), tied for seventh in points per game (1.12) and eighth in goals per game (0.44). Danielle Tolmais (0.33) and Lindsay Elking (0.31) rank ninth and 10th, respectively, in assists per game, while Cristina Rodriguez is 10th in points per game (1.00).
SCOUTING VCU – The Rams have not allowed a goal in their last four games, posting a 3-0-1 record in that stretch. In fact, the only goals VCU has yielded in A-10 play came in a 3-1 loss to La Salle. The Rams top the conference in shutouts (nine) and corner kicks per game (6.38), and they rank fourth in goals against average (1.12). Senior forward Maren Johansen leads the team with eight goals and 18 points. Senior forward Alex Gogolin has nine points (3G, 3A), while all three of junior midfielder Sharon Wojcik's goals are game winners, tying for second most in the A-10. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Emma Kruse, a 2013 second-team All-Conference selection, has played every minute between the posts. Kruse was joined by senior defender Casey Boyer on the All-Conference second team. The Saint Louis-VCU series is tied 1-1. The Billikens won 1-0 a year ago, while the Rams captured the first meeting 2-0 in 2012. Friday's game is the first between the teams at Hermann Stadium.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON – The Colonials host Dayton Friday afternoon before coming to St. Louis. In its most recent outing, George Washington had a three-game winning streak and four-game unbeaten streak snapped in a 1-0 loss at VCU Oct. 25. The Colonials are the A-10's top defensive team, leading the conference with a 0.72 GAA. They are tied for second with seven shutouts. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Miranda Horn, who has played almost 90 percent of the team's minutes, ranks second in the league in GAA (0.73) and save percentage (.857) and owns five shutouts. Sophomore forward MacKenzie Cowley (6G, 2A) and junior midfielder Kristi Abbate (3G, 4A), a 2013 second-team All-Conference honoree, pace the offense with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Cowley's three game-winning goals are tied for second most in the A-10. The Billikens lead the all-time series 5-1. The Colonials recorded their only victory two years ago in the most recent meeting.
BILLIKENS PICKED FOURTH IN A-10 PRESEASON POLL; WRIGHT HONORED – Saint Louis was tabbed for a fourth-place finish in the 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference standings in the A-10 head coaches' preseason poll. Senior defender Mary Wright was selected to the preseason All-Conference team.
HEAD COACH KATIE SHIELDS –
Katie Shields, the third head coach in Saint Louis women's soccer history, is in her second season guiding the Billikens and her third campaign on the Billiken staff. Shields was a SLU assistant coach in 2012. Prior to her arrival at Saint Louis, Shields spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Northwestern. She served three years in the same capacities at her alma mater, Harvard, where she helped guide the Crimson to Ivy League titles and NCAA Championship berths in 2008 and 2009. Shields began her coaching career with a one-year stint as an assistant at Cal Irvine. In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, she served as assistant goalkeeping coach for the Boston Breakers of Women's Professional Soccer in 2009; head coach of the Boston Bolts F.C. girls' youth clubs for two years; and camp director/senior staff member of Soccerplus Goalkeeper School from 2006-11. She also has assisted with the U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team. Shields is a 2006 graduate of Harvard with a bachelor's degree in government. She is joined on the sideline by assistant coaches
