THIS WEEK – Saint Louis women's soccer (5-6, 0-1 Atlantic 10) plays two conference road games this weekend. The Billikens are in Fairfax, Va., to take on George Mason (2-7-2, 0-0-2) Friday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. (CT). Saint Joseph's (7-6, 0-2) is the opponent Sunday, Oct. 12, at noon (CT) in Philadelphia.

BILLIKEN LEADERS – Twelve different Saint Louis players have recorded at least one point, and eight of those players have collected at least one goal. Kirsten Clemens tops the scoring chart with 14 points (6G, 2A) and is followed closely by Lindsay Elking with 12 points (4G, 4A). Livi Logan-Wood (4G, 1A) has nine points, Cristina Rodriguez (2G, 3A) has seven points, and Tori Marshall (3G) and Danielle Tolmais (1G, 4A) have six points apiece. Goalkeeper Hanna Benben carries a 1.62 goals against average and has made 48 saves. The Billikens have out-shot their opponents 189-140 overall and 99-68 in shots on goal.
TOUGH LOSS AT DAYTON – In their only game last week, the Billikens fell 3-2 in overtime at Dayton in the A-10 opener. Kirsten Clemens (Danielle Tolmais, Lindsay Elking assists) and Livi Logan-Wood (Tolmais, Cristina Rodriguez assists) scored a goal apiece, and Hanna Benben made a career-high nine saves.
BILLS' ATTACK PRODUCING RESULTS – With 22 goals this season, Saint Louis already has surpassed last season's total of 19 ... the Billikens' 22 goals are the most scored by a SLU team through the first 11 games of a season since the 2006 squad netted 24 goals … SLU has seven multi-goal games so far this season, eclipsing last year's total of five. The Bills tallied four goals in three of those outings, marking the first time since 2006 that the team has produced three four-goal games … Kirsten Clemens has a team-high six goals, marking the first time since 2008 that a Billiken has scored that many in a season ... SLU has two players with a double-digit point total (Clemens 14, Lindsay Elking 12) for the first time since 2009.
BILLIKENS IN THE NATIONAL STATISTICS – Saint Louis ranks 30th in the nation in assists per game (2.09), 46th in points per game (6.09) and 53rd in goals per game (2.0).
SLU IN THE A-10 STATISTICS – In the most recent Atlantic 10 Conference statistics report, the Billikens are second in the league in points per game (6.09) and corner kicks per game (5.91); tied for second in goals per game (2.00); and third in assists per game (2.09) and shots per game (17.18). Kirsten Clemens is fourth in goals per game (0.55), fifth in shots per game (3.45) and sixth in points per game (1.27). Lindsay Elking and Danielle Tolmais are tied for seventh in assists per game (0.36). Elking is ninth in points per game (1.09), while Tolmais is tied for ninth in shots per game (2.64).
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON – The Patriots opened A-10 play last week with 1-1 ties at Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Leading scorer Sydney Mitchell, a junior midfielder, has five points (1G, 3A), and seven other Patriots have one goal apiece. Redshirt sophomore Laura Glew (1.25 GAA) and redshirt junior Briana Kottler (1.89 GAA) have shared goalkeeping duties. In the first meeting between Saint Louis and George Mason a year ago, the Patriots won 1-0 in overtime in Fairfax, Va.
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S – The Hawks, who earlier this season registered five shutouts during a five-game winning streak, fell 1-0 (overtime) at Rhode Island and 2-1 at Massachusetts during their A-10 opening weekend. Sophomore forward/midfielder Emily Gingrich paces the attack with 14 points (6G, 2A), followed by junior forward Olivia McEachern's nine points (3G, 3A) and sophomore forward Shannon Mulvey's six points (1G, 4A). Junior goalkeeper Allison Ebling has posted a 1.23 GAA and 48 saves while playing every minute between the posts. The Billikens lead the series 3-1-3, including a 2-1-1 mark in Philadelphia. The teams have tied the last two contests (2012, 2010).
BILLIKENS PICKED FOURTH IN A-10 PRESEASON POLL; WRIGHT HONORED – Saint Louis was tabbed for a fourth-place finish in the 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference standings in the A-10 head coaches' preseason poll. Senior defender Mary Wright was selected to the preseason All-Conference team.
HEAD COACH KATIE SHIELDS – Katie Shields, the third head coach in Saint Louis women's soccer history, is in her second season guiding the Billikens and her third campaign on the Billiken staff. Shields was a SLU assistant coach in 2012. Prior to her arrival at Saint Louis, Shields spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Northwestern. She served three years in the same capacities at her alma mater, Harvard, where she helped guide the Crimson to Ivy League titles and NCAA Championship berths in 2008 and 2009. Shields began her coaching career with a one-year stint as an assistant at Cal Irvine. In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, she served as assistant goalkeeping coach for the Boston Breakers of Women's Professional Soccer in 2009; head coach of the Boston Bolts F.C. girls' youth clubs for two years; and camp director/senior staff member of Soccerplus Goalkeeper School from 2006-11. She also has assisted with the U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team. Shields is a 2006 graduate of Harvard with a bachelor's degree in government. She is joined on the sideline by assistant coaches Scott Gloden and Vince Gentile and senior graduate manager Jessie Jarrett.
