THE BASICS
Saint Louis ended the first half on a 22-7 run, then gradually pulled away in the second stanza to post a 71-44 victory over Missouri-St. Louis Tuesday night in an exhibition game at Chaifetz Arena.
GAME DETAILS
--SLU opened a quick 8-2 lead but saw Missouri-St. Louis rattle off 10 straight points for a 12-8 advantage.
--The Billikens bounced back with an 8-0 spurt of their own and went on to lead by as many as 11 points on three occasions, the final time a 30-19 halftime cushion.
--Following intermission, Saint Louis maintained a double-digit lead and was never challenged. Miles Reynolds' three-point play capped an 8-0 run and put the margin over 20 points for the first time, 53-31, and the Billikens stretched the lead to 28 before settling for the final margin.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
--Ash Yacoubou (5-of-9 from the field, 2-of-5 from 3-point range, 4-of-5 from the foul line) led all scorers with 16 points. Yacoubou registered a rare five-point play in the second half.
--Davell Roby and Mike Crawford each scored nine points, while Miles Reynolds, Milik Yarbrough and Austin Gillmann tossed in seven apiece. Marcus Bartley was 2-of-4 from downtown for six points.
--Milik Yarbrough grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, followed by Reggie Agbeko with eight (game-high four offensive boards) and Mike Crawford with seven.
--The Billikens out-rebounded the Tritons 44-36.
--SLU forced 19 UMSL turnovers – nine of which were steals – while suffering just 11 miscues.
--The Bills held the Tritons to 33.3 percent shooting overall; UMSL was just 4-of-19 from beyond the arc.
