ST. LOUIS – The Billiken baseball team turned in a pair of solid pitching performances in a pair of losses in Florida. Sophomore RHP Zach Girrens threw six innings allowing three hits, one earned run, eight strikeouts and two walks in a 2-4 loss to Iowa. Redshirt senior Clay Smith threw 6.2 innings with six hits, two earned runs, five strikeouts and one walk in a 5-6 loss to Ohio State.

Robert Plohr was tabbed with the loss against Iowa, while Trey Faulconer was hit with the loss against Ohio State. The losses drop Saint Louis to 0-3 on the year.

In the Iowa game, Billiken designated hitter Colton Frabasilio was the Billikens top threat at the plate, going 2-4 with an RBI. Shortstop Alex King also had two hits in the contest.

Against the Buckeyes, Saint Louis outfielder Michael Bozarth went 4-5 with two RBIs, a stolen base and a run scored. Frabasilio (2-4), Trent Leimkuehler (2-5, one run scored) and Mike Vigliarolo (2-5, one run scored, one RBI) also turned in multiple hit performances.

Saint Louis wraps up the Snowbird Classic tomorrow, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. when the Billikens take on Kansas State. Freshman RHP Connor Lehmann will take the hill for SLU.
