Box Score ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis freshman outfielder Parker Sniatynski went 3-4 as the Billikens beat George Washington 5-2 in Washington, D.C. Zach Girrens (7-1) picked up the win and Brett Shimanovsky (5) earned the save. The win moves the Billikens to 32-18 overall and 13-7 in Atlantic 10 action.
Saint Louis jumped on the GW starter early, scoring twice in the first and loading the bases with two away, forcing the Colonials to go to the bullpen for the final out in the first.
SLU added another run in the fourth on an RBI fielder's choice from Mike Vigliarolo.
The Billikens extended their lead to 4-0 in the sixth on an RBI fielder's choice from Danny Murphy. However, GW scored twice in the bottom half to cut the lead to 4-2.
Saint Louis' final run came in the seventh on a costly error by the Colonials.
Shimanovsky entered in the sixth and threw 3.2 innings allowing only one base runner.
Sniatynski was SLU's top hitter going 3-4 with two runs scored. Vigliarolo also was good, going 2-5 with a run and an RBI. Additionally, Vigliarolo extended his on-base streak to 38 games.
The rubber game between Saint Louis and George Washington will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. (CT). Junior Josh Moore will get the start for the Billikens.
