OVERVIEW
Saint Louis volleyball dropped the season opener to Big Ten foe Michigan 3-0. Danielle Rygelski led all hitters with 13 kills in the contest. In her first collegiate start, Camila Rivas tallied 23 assists.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
- Danielle Rygelski opened the match with five kills and five digs in the first set, but SLU fell 19-25.
- Rygelski tallied another five kills in the second set and Josie Gandall added three of her own on eight attacks (.375 attack percentage) as SLU fell 13-25.
- In the final set, Rygelski was held to three kills, but Lauren Leverenz had two kills on four attacks (.500 attack percentage). SLU dropped the frame 14-25.
- The Billikens did not record a service ace in the match. It's the first time SLU has not had an ace since Aug. 29, 2015 against Arkansas State. That was the only match of the year without an ace.
- Taylor Paulson and Rygelski teamed up on all three Billiken blocks of the night.
