ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis head men's basketball coach Travis Ford is one of 48 head coaches nationally participating in the 2017 Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge.
Ford is supporting the St. Louis-based Annie Malone Children and Family Services Center during the challenge, which runs now through the middle of March.
The challenge is simple – the more votes Travis Ford receives on the voting site (www.ESPN.com/Infiniti), the more money Annie Malone CFSC receives. To vote, fans will need to set up an ESPN account at ESPN.com. Fans can vote once per day, per ESPN account. Voting begins at 2 p.m. CT on Monday, Jan. 2.
Annie Malone CFSC is a multi-service center in the St. Louis community addressing social and educational needs of children and families throughout the area. Leslie Gill, who earned a master's degree at Saint Louis University, serves as the organization's CEO.
Before Christmas, Ford surprised five Annie Malone students for a night with the Billikens, which included a shopping spree. You can read more about that event here.
There are four rounds in the challenge, with each round meaning more money for the charity. The breakdown is as follows:
Round 1: 48 Coaches ($1,000 per charity) – Voting runs Jan. 2-Jan. 22
Round 2: 24 Coaches ($7,500 per charity) – Voting runs Jan. 23-Feb. 12
Round 3: 16 Coaches ($10,000 per charity) – Voting runs Feb. 13-Feb. 26
FINAL Round: 4 Coaches ($15,000 per charity) – Voting runs Feb. 27-March 12
The winner of the challenge, announced March 12, earns $100,000 for his charity.
