Box Score SAINT LOUIS - [BOX SCORE] Miller Hogan had the game of his season on Friday in Philadelphia. The Billiken starter went the distance and allowed just one run on five hits with 11 strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Saint Joseph's.
Saint Louis (13-7, 1-0 A-10) put together one of its most complete games of the season as both the offense and pitching clicked on all levels. The Billikens recorded 11 hits as a team in the win.
Alex King drove in the first run for Saint Louis as the Billikens improved their record to 9-2 whn scoring the first run of the game. Ryan Hendandez led the inning off with a double down the left field line, which put the first run in scoring position. The designated hitter finished the game 2-for-4 from the plate.
St. Joe's tied the game in the bottom of the third, but the Saint Louis offense continued to apply pressure to Hawks' starter Tim Brennan. The junior righty shut the Billikens down in the fourth and the fifth, but a two-run sixth proved to be the difference.
The Hawks got two quick outs to begin the sixth inning, but Parker Sniatynski's single to center began the domino effect. Jake Garella followed with a single before Carter Hanford recorded an RBI double to score the Billiken left fielder and put Saint Louis up for good.
Saint Louis was led by Sniatynski, who recorded three hits on the day. Nick Reeser, Garella and Hernandez all posted a pair of hits in the game as well.
Hernandez tied a career-high with two hits in the game and has posted two hits in each of his last two games.
Miller Hogan matched a career-high with his 11 strikeouts on Friday. The junior also notched his first complete game of his Billiken career.
With the win, Saint Louis extended its Division I-leading win streak to 12 games. The streak is the longest active streak in the nation.
The Billikens will go for the series victory on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. CDT as Jackson Wark is scheduled to take the hill for Saint Louis.
