THE BASICS

• Saint Louis fell 3-0 to Western Kentucky Friday in its opening game of the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic, which is being played at Chaifetz Arena.
• The Billikens are now 0-4 on the season, while Western Kentucky improves to 3-2 .

FIRST SET

It was back-and-forth at the start before Western Kentucky pulled away late. The opening set saw four ties and two lead changes, but SLU couldn't get over the hump as the Hilltoppers went up nine at 20-11 and never looked back en route to the 25-15 win.

SECOND SET

The Billikens never led in set two. Western Kentucky went up 5-0 at the start to open a lead it would not relinquish. WKU ended up taking set two 25-15.

THIRD SET

Western Kentucky again got off to a strong set in the third set, leading 10-5 at one point, but SLU responded and pulled to within one at 12-11. However, Western Kentucky would score the next three points and held on to post the eventual 25-18 victory.

NOTABLE

• Maya Taylor led the Billikens with 11 kills, while Isabelle Walsh recorded six kills.
• Cayce Chaykowsky contributed a team-high nine digs, while Sien Gallop had eight digs.
• Margaret Rosburg recorded 20 aces and posted six digs.
