Sophomore Demi Sahuleka and freshman Kendyl Underwood of the Saint Louis University field hockey team are the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
Sahuleka came out of the gate firing in her Saint Louis career, scoring five goals in the Billikens' first three games, including a hat trick in the season opener and netting the game winner in each of the three contests.
The midfielder tallied the first three goals of the game against Lindenwood on Tuesday, recording the hat trick. Sahuleka then collected her fourth and fifth goals of the season in the weekend games against Bellarmine, scoring one in each contest. She also earned an assist on Sunday, brining her point total to 11 on the week.
Underwood was the starting goalkeeper for for three Saint Louis shutouts last week, stopping all six shots on goal she faced.
The rookie recorded an individual shutout in Saturday's game against Bellarmine. She was subbed out in the first and third games with the Billikens well in control.
Saint Louis is 3-0 to start the season for the first time since 1990, and the Billikens have posted three-straight shutouts for the first time since 1991.
