Josh Turnock Added to Baseball Staff

Saint Louis University head baseball coach Darin Hendrickson has announced the addition of Josh Turnock as volunteer assistant coach.

"We are lucky to have Josh join our staff," Hendrickson said. "He comes highly recommended out of a great program at Indiana. Josh will primarily work with our catchers, throw batting practice and assist with hitters, along with camp and scouting duties. We proudly welcome him to our baseball family."

Turnock spent the last three years at Indiana University, where he was a graduate assistant for the first two seasons (2018-20) and volunteer assistant for the most recent one (2020-21).

While at Indiana, the team won the 2019 Big Ten Conference Championship and saw 17 players chosen in the MLB Draft. Turnock was responsible for the daily development of the catchers, while also assisting with the team's offensive progression. Behind his guidance, Indiana catchers led the Big Ten in fewest passed balls and wild pitches allowed and recorded a league-leading 462 strikeouts with a 3.20 ERA, ranking fourth best nationally.

Prior to Indiana, Turnock spent time as a strength and conditioning intern with the Indianapolis Colts (2018), as well as at the University of Notre Dame (2018) . For the Colts, he assisted the staff with daily tasks associated with preseason training camp, while also assessing players' hydration levels and providing feedback before and after practices. At Notre Dame, Turnock assisted the olympic sport staff and acted as the lead strength and conditioning coach for multiple training sessions, including for the sports of volleyball, softball, baseball, women's soccer and tennis.

Turnock was a four-year baseball player at Eastern Illinois, where he earned a B.S. in Kinesiology and Sports Studies in 2018. He later earned his M.S. in Kinesiology at Indiana (2020).
