CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Saint Louis participated in the Illini Classic at the University of Illinois on Saturday in Champaign, Ill.
Several Billikens finished first in their respective event heats. On the men's side,
Myles Gascon had the fastest time in the 100 meters of all competitors, clocking a 10.76. He was also first in his heat and second among all runners in the 200 meters with a PR of 22.17.
Danny Hopkins finished first in his heat in the 200 meters (22.15) and was third in the 400 meters (48.64, season best). Hopkins also ran a leg on the Billikens 4x100-meter relay along with
Luke Schaefer,
Aidan Martin and
Jack McPhillips. They clocked a time of 3:25.04 for the first-place finish.
Matt de Haas led the Billikens in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.34, which was second in his section.
Diego Collado was second in the discus with a throw of 14.98 meters.
For the women,
Emily Nichols won her heat in the 100 meters by finishing with a time of 12.30, just ahead of teammate
Jaila Robinson (12.55) who finished second in the heat. Nichols was second overall in the 200 meters with a time of 25.13. Robinson had a PR of 26.15 in the 200 meters.
Angelina White placed second overall in the discus with a PR of 42.84 meters.
Caroline Miller placed fifth in the javelin with a PR of 26.85 meters.
Susan D'Onofrio was second overall in the triple jump, posting a mark of 11.17 meters.
The Billikens are back in action next weekend for the Redbird Challenge at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.
