Saint Louis head field hockey coach Zoe Adkins has announced the addition of four student-athletes to attend the University and play for the Billikens beginning this fall.
The new Billikens are 5-foot-9 midfielder Isabel Franken (Voorburg, Netherlands/SG Dalton Voorburg), 5-foot-7 midfielder/back Ashley Jones (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton), 5-foot-10 back Nora Kotnik (Lakewood, Ohio/Central Michigan University/Magnificat) and 5-foot-9 midfielder/back Julia Rooijakkers (Eindhoven, Netherlands/Franklin Pierce University/Novalis College).
Franken, Jones, Kotnik and Rooijakkers will join seven Billikens as newcomers to the team this fall. The release on the other seven can be found here.
Isabel Franken • M • Freshman • Voorburg, Netherlands • SG Dalton Voorburg Â
Adkins on Franken: "Isabel is a highly-skilled and composed midfielder. Not only can she make smart decisions with the ball, she can execute plays while under immense defensive pressure. Her possession skills will elevate our team's game in the middle of the field."
Ashley Jones • M/B • Freshman • Princeton, N.J. / The Hun School of PrincetonÂ
Adkins on Jones: "Ashley is a midfielder/back with major speed. When she wins the ball, she creates a lot of momentum in the middle of the field often joining the attack. Ashley consistently plays at a high tempo which creates chaos for her opponent in the attacking third. Â
Nora Kotnik • B • Sophomore • Lakewood, Ohio • Central Michigan University • Magnificat
Adkins on Kotnik: "Nora will be a spark to our team as she is relentless on the turf. She is a tough defender who is willing to battle in challenging defensive spaces. Nora does a great job at disrupting an attacker's play and will allow us to win the ball more often in our defensive third."Â
Julia Rooijakkers • M/B • Junior • Eindhoven, Netherlands • Franklin Pierce University • Novalis College
Adkins on Rooijakkers: "Julia is a great distributor as she sees and understands the field well. Her ability to capitalize on the dangerous spaces leads to consistent attack out of the backfield. Julia maintains a solid presence as she is a two-way defender who is able to make the big stop and then generate a quick change of speed on attack for her team."
