Box Score

St. Louis - Southeast Missouri State spoiled the inaugural games at the new softball field at The Billiken Sports Center by sweeping a doubleheader over Saint Louis University. SEMO won the first softball game played on campus with a 10-3 triumph. In the second game, Southeast Missouri held the Billikens off by a 5-3 margin.

In game one, SEMO used big outbursts in the second and seventh innings en route to the victory. SEMO took advantage of two SLU errors in the second frame and pushed across five runs on four hits. With two runners on, Saint Louis committed two-straight errors that opened the way, capped by Courtney Eklund's RBI triple. Southeast Missouri added a run in the top of the sixth, but Adrie Bogaars had the first Billiken RBI when she drove in Beth Yagge in the bottom of the sixth.

SEMO's Doehring capped off a four-run seventh inning with a bases-loaded triple to plate three more runs. Bridget Fletcher added her own triple to drive in a run and Beth Puttcamp had an RBI groundout, but it was not enough. The Billikens received at least one hit from every starter in the game and Kristin Rossi allowed just one earned run.

In game two, SEMO scored two runs in the third and fourth inning each and kept the Bills off the board the rest of the way for the sweep of the doubleheader. After grabbing a 1-0 lead after one inning, Southeast Missouri strung together four straight hits to pad their lead to 3-0.

Beth Yagge to pull SLU to within 3-2. SEMO used three hits and a sac bunt to push the lead back to 5-2. Bridget Fletcher added an RBI single to score Erin Jeffrey, but the Billikens were held at bay by Jenny Doehring, who registered her first save of the season.

Fletcher led SLU with three hits in the second game, while Bogaars, Erin Jeffrey all added two hits each.

The Billikens fall to 4-13 on the season. Southeast Missouri improves to 5-4 on the year.
