Billikens Drop Final Two Games At Gene Cusic Classic

Fort Myers, Fla. - The Saint Louis University softball team completed its week at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla., by dropping games to Albany and St. Joseph's.

The University of Albany scored a run in each of the first two innings and held off the Bills late for a 2-1 victory. SLU outhit Albany five to four as Beth Puttcamp went 2-for-2 and drove in a run. Erin Jeffrey tallied the lone Billiken run. Kristin Rossi held Albany in check with just four hits and one earned run.

In the final game of the trip, St. Joseph's fashioned 11 hits into five runs as the Hawks eased to a 5-0 decision. St. Joseph's scored all five runs in the first four innings. The Billikens were limited to four hits in the game. Erin Jeffrey had two hits in three at-bats for SLU. Janet Venorsky drew two walks. Jennifer Riva went the distance, striking out two batters in six innings of work.

The Billikens watched their record dip to 4-11 on the season.
