Miami, Fla. - Taking a break from the Gene Cusic Classic, the Billikens voyaged over to Miami to square off against Florida International. However, the change in venue did not help as FIU dwept a doubleheader 2-0 and 3-1. The Billikens received strong pitching performances from Kristin Rossi and Erin Jeffrey, but were unable to generate any offense against FIU.

Kristin Rossi went six innings and allowed Florida International just two runs, one earned. However, Erin McCutcheon limited the Billikens to just one Janet Venorsky single. FIU put single markers up in the second and the sixth for all the offense they needed.

FIU scored a run in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. SLU came back to tie the game when Beth Puttcamp doubled home Bridget Fletcher with a run in the top of the third. Florida International cameback to take the lead with a run in the third and added some insurance with a run in the bottom of the fifth. The Billikens outhit FIU six to five but were unable to generate any more offense. Puttcamp had two hits for SLU and the lone RBI.

The Billikens fall to 4-9 on the season.
