Softball Bills Drop Doubleheader At Wichita State

Wichita, Kan. - The Saint Louis University softball team was swept in a doubleheader at Wichita State on Saturday afternoon. The Billikens fell by an 8-0 count in the first game and lost 12-2 in game two.

In the first game, the Shockers tallied six unearned runs on just two hits, taking advantage of three Billiken miscues. SLU was unable to generate any offense and was held to just two hits - singles by Erin Jeffrey and Meredith Henry. Kristin Rossi allowed just three hits in 3 2/3 innings of work but took the loss.

Wichita State scored 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning and moved on to a 12-2 triumph in game two. The Shockers scored two runs in the first, but the Billikens came back to tie the game in the top of the third. Jeffrey singled with one out and Beth Yagge followed with her second home run of the season to knot the score at 2-2. However, WSU exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the third for the winning margin. The Shockers had 10 hits in the inning and were aided by two SLU fielding errors. Jennifer Riva started and was touched for eight Wichita State runs.

The Billikens fall to 5-16 on the season while Wichita State improves to 9-15.
