The Bradley Braves came to The Billiken Sports Center and swept a pair from Saint Louis University, 6-1 and 11-1. SLU was held to just five hits in game one and mangaged seven hits in game two.
In game one, Bradley took advantage of two SLU errors with two hits to take an early 3-0 lead after three innings. The Braves added two more runs in the fifth on four hits and tacked on a single run in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the sixth, the Billikens used aggressive baserunning to tally its lone run. Beth Yagge led off the seventh with a double to center field and advanced to third on Adrie Bogaars' single. Lisa Rajala came on to pinch run for Bogaars and was thrown out trying to steal second, but Yagge took advantage by stealing home for SLU's only run. Kristin Rossi went the distance for SLU and struckout three while allowing only three earned runs.
Bradley scored in four of the first five innings and eased to an 11-1 win. The Braves used four hits to tally two runs in the first before the Billikens earned one run back. Beth Yagge infield single. The Billikens then pulled off a double steal with Yagge taking second and Puttcamp scoring. Bradley got that run back in the second and tacked on four more in the third on four hits. In addition to going perfect at the plate, Puttcamp upped her stolen base count to a team-high nine. Adrie Bogaars went 2-for-3 in the game.
The Billikens fall to 6-19 on the season while Bradley improves to 11-14. Saint Louis travels to Southern Illinois on Thu., March 30 for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
