Bradley Defeats Billikens By Identical 8-0 Scores In Doubleheader

April 12, 2000

Box Score

Peoria, Ill. - The Bradley Braves swept a doubleheader from Saint Louis University by identical 8-0 scores. The Billikens were limited to just five hits over the two games.

In game one, it was a duel between starters Jennifer Riva and BU's Kerri Evans for the first three innings. The two pitchers gave up just three hits combined before Bradley erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning. The Braves pounded out seven hits and sent 12 batters to the plate. Janet Venorsky doubled in the second inning for SLU's only hit of the game.

Game two saw the Braves tally in each of the odd innings, scoring two in the first, two in the third and four in the fifth in another 8-0 decision. The Billikens' best chance to score came in the fifth inning when they loaded the bases with one out, but Bradley's Cristin Evans struck out Beth Yagge and induced an inning-ending grounder from Adrie Bogaars. Erin Jeffrey, Beth Puttcamp, Kristin Rossi and Bridget Fletcher all tallied one hit for SLU.

The Billikens fall to 8-27 on the season while Bradley pushes its record to 19-18. Saint Louis returns to Conference USA play this weekend when the Bills host No. 10 Southern Miss. A doubleheader on Sat., April 15, begins at 1 p.m. and a single game starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
