Box Score
Chicago, Ill. -
DePaul received outstanding pitching from Ashley Ivey and Lindsay Chouinard as the Blue Demons swept two games from the Billikens on Friday afternoon. The Blue Demons edged the Bills 4-2 in game one and held Saint Louis without a hit in 6-0 victory in game two.
Game one saw DePaul score three runs in the third and hold off SLU in the late going. Trailing 3-0, Denise Setchfield led off the top of the sixth with a single and moved over to second on Katie Duffin's sac bunt. Erin Jeffrey then doubled in Setchfield to pull the Billikens to 3-1. DePaul answered with a run in the top of the seventh to make the score 4-1 before Saint Louis mounted one more rally. Beth Yagge singled to start the seventh for SLU. She moved to second on a DePaul error and came all the way around to score the second Billiken run. However, Ivey settled down and set down the final outs to end the game.
Lindsay Chouinard was splendid for DePaul in game two and did not surrender a hit to Saint Louis. Chouinard struckout 13 Billikens and allowed only two SLU runners to reach second base. DePaul struck for four runs in the second for all the offense they would need.
The Billikens fall to 8-34 overall, 2-9 in Conference USA action. DePaul improves to 20-15, 7-1 in C-USA. The teams will play a single game on Saturday at 11 am.
