UAB Sweeps A Pair From Softballers

Birmingham, Ala. - The UAB Blazers received outstanding pitching in the first game of a doubleheader, then used a strong offensive output to sweep Saint Louis in Conference USA softball action on Saturday. UAB won game one 4-0 and posted a 10-1 win in game two.

In the first game, Kerri Foster allowed just two hits in keeping the Billikens off the scoreboard. Beth Puttcamp and Erin Jeffrey were the only SLU hitters to manage a hit in the first game. The Blazers scored one run in the second, added a pair in the third and a single run in the fourth. Kristin Rossi took the loss for Saint Louis. She allowed just one earned run and struck out four UAB players.

In game two, UAB scored at least two runs in the first three innings and had 12 hits. Beth Puttcamp also singled for SLU.

The Billikens fall to 8-39 overall, 2-12 in Conference USA. UAB ups its record to 21-31, 5-9 in C-USA.
