Box Score

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University baseball recorded 11 runs on as many hits in an 11-1 victory over Bradley this afternoon at The Billiken Sports Center. Fourteen Billikens came to the plate in the 10-run third inning as the Saint Louis bats returned to form. Four players posted two RBI in the game, including Eric Constable (Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette), who was 3-for-3 at the plate. Saint Louis starter Ben Hutton (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) improved to 2-2 on the season with the victory.

The Billikens opened with a run in the bottom of the first as Nick Steiner (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) drove in Constable after his leadoff single. Hutton held the Braves to one hit through the first four innings.

The Saint Louis third began when Brandon Shockley (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) drew a lead off walk and advanced to second on a bunt single from shortstop Paul Miles (St. Louis, Mo./Jefferson College). Constable put a single into left that plated Shockley before Brian Haddock (St. Louis, Mo./SLUH) loaded the bases on a bunt single to the pitcher. Steiner plated Miles with a single to right for a 3-0 lead. The Braves starter Joan Puig was replaced, but reliever Marc Baker got similar results on the mound. Adam Shea (Chesterfield, Mo./DeSmet) recorded a two-RBI single and Jim Bredenkoetter (St. Louis, Mo./DeSmet) grounded out to short to drive in Steiner. Shea scored on a wild pitch to clear the bases for John McLaughlin (Glencoe, Mo./Eureka) who walked. Billiken designated hitter Joe Boyer (St. Louis, Mo./Hillsboro) struck out, bringing the Billikens back where they started with Shockley at the plate. The third baseman drew his second walk of the inning and Miles was hit by a pitch to load the bases again. Constable recorded another RBI single to plate McLaughlin. Haddock put a single into center field to drive in a pair of runs before Constable crossed the plate on a wild pitch for the 10th run of the inning. Baker got Steiner to go down swinging to end the inning.

The Braves threatened in the fifth, when back-to-back two-out singles and a fielding error loaded the bases for Jason Morelock. Hutton recorded the third of his four strikeouts to end the inning. Bradley's lone run came in the top of the ninth on a solo home run from Corey Jager.

The Billikens (12-16) return to Conference USA action this weekend with a three-game set at Tulane. First pitch Fri., April 7, will be at 7 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday games beginning at 1 p.m.
