Softball Loses C-USA Tournament Opener

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Saint Louis University softball lost its first-round game with South Florida 6-0 in Conference USA Tournament action this afternoon. Second-team All-Conference selections Beth Yagge and Erin Jeffrey both went 2-for-3 at the plate, but only one other Billiken managed a hit in the loss.

USF scored quickly with a run in the bottom of the first inning when a walk and a hit batter led to an RBI single for Andi Michaels. The Bulls scored once in the third before a three-run fourth inning broke the game open. Pinch hitter Nora Wideikis recorded an RBI ground out in the sixth for the final run.

The Billikens (9-42) will play in the losers bracket Fri., May 12, at 1 p.m., against an opponent yet to be determined. The winner of the Louisville/UAB contest will face top-seeded Southern Miss later this evening. The loser of that game will take on the Billikens.
