South Florida Defeats Softball Bills 9-0

St. Louis - South Florida senior Jessi Kowal threw a no-hitter and the Bulls won the final match of a three-game set by a 9-0 count. Kowal struck out 10 Billiken hitters and did not allow a SLU runner to reach second base.

Shelly Riker led off the game for USF with a walk and stole second. She came around to score the only run USF would need on an RBI single by Courtney Lewellen. The Bulls added three more runs in the second on three hits and one SLU error. Cindy Turek had a sacrifice fly in the third to make it 5-0 and the Bulls added two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. The Billikens only had three baserunners in the entire game. Kowal picked up her 16th victory of the season while Nicole Bohnenstiehl took only her fourth loss of the season.

The Billikens fall to 14-11 overall, 1-2 in Conference USA while South Florida improves to 28-18, 2-1 in C-USA. Saint Louis is next in action on Tuesday, when the Bradley Braves visit for a doubleheader on Tue., March 27, at 3 p.m.
