No. 10 DePaul Posts 4-0 Win Over Bills In Softball

St. Louis - The DePaul Blue Demon pitching staff of Sarah Martz and Lindsay Chouinard combined to one-hit Saint Louis in a 4-0 Conference USA win at The Billiken Sports Center on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Demons took all thee games in the series.

The Blue Demons tallied two runs in the first inning for all the offense they would need. Liz Bouck singled to open the game and Sarah Martz was hit by Billiken starter Erin Jeffrey, who was making her first pitching appearance of the season. A double by Shavaughne Desecki drove Bouck in and Sarah Douglas scored Martz with an RBI grounder. DePaul played fundamental softball in the fourth to score one run. Tatum Allen led off the inning with a single and moved to second on Bouck's hit. Martz sacrificed both over one base and Desecki lifted a sac fly to right. In the fifth, DePaul closed out the scoring with three singles followed by Allen's RBI grounder to first base. The only Billiken hit was Meredith Henry's double in the second as Martz and Chouinard only faced one over the minimum. The duo combined for 12 strikeouts as Martz picked up her 14hth victory of the season. The save was the first of the season for Chouinard. Jeffrey went the distance for the Billikens.

The Billikens drop to 15-17 overall, 1-5 in Conference USA. DePaul improves to 24-7-1 overall and stays perfect in Conference USA action at 6-0.
