Final Stats

Nashville, Tenn. - The Saint Louis University softball team opened the 2002 season with two victories in the Belmont Tournament played on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. The Billikens defeated Lipscomb 5-3 and then downed Eastern Illinois 1-0 in eight innings.

Against Lipscomb, Nicole Bohnenstiehl pounded a home run while Janet Venorsky drove in two runs in going 2-for-3 in the game. Adrie Bogaars also laced two hits in her two at-bats. Heather Hubert picked up the victory for SLU.

Versus Eastern Illinois, Beth Yagge drove in the only run of the contest in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Billikens edged the Panthers 1-0. Venorsky picked up two more hits in the second game of the day while Bohnenstiehl contributed two hits. She earned the win with eight shutout innings in the circle, striking out 13.
