The Saint Louis University softball team opened the UT-Martin Tournament by winning two of three games and has earned the top seed for the final day of the tourney. The Billikens dropped a 7-0 decision to Indiana State, but bounced back with wins over UT-Martin and Lipscomb.
The Bills outhit Indiana State, but stranded too many runners in their first defeat of the season. Nicole Bohnenstiehl took the loss for the Billikens. In the second game of the day, Heather Hubert threw her second shutout of the season, and Adrie Bogaars and Beth Yagge hit back-to-back home runs to power SLU to a 4-0 win. Against Lipscomb, Kerri Higgins went 3-for-3 and Jessica Saucedo notched two doubles to help the Billikens to a 7-4 victory. Hubert picked up her second win of the day and Bohnenstiehl came on to earn the save.
The Billikens are now 6-1 and will be the top seed on the final day of the tournament. They will face Indiana State in a rematch on Sunday.
