Final Stats

Birmingham, Ala. -

The Billiken softball team saw its record seven-game winning streak end in a 1-0 loss at UAB in the Conference USA opener for both teams. The Blazers' win was their seventh straight, a school record.

The game was a pitching duel between SLU's Nicole Bohnenstiehl and UAB's Kerri Foster. Bohnenstiehl allowed only three hits while Foster surrendered just two hits. The Blazers scored the only run of the game when Kristin Stanfill walked with the bases loaded in the second inning. The only Saint Louis players who posted hits in the game were Beth Yagge and Beth Puttcamp.

The Billikens dip to 11-2 overall, 0-1 in Conference USA. UAB improves to 18-7, 1-0 in C-USA.

The game was called in the bottom of the fifth inning because of inclement weather. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
