UAB completed a three-game sweep of the Billikens on Wednesday, taking two games 4-2 and 4-3 at George Ward Park. The Billikens held leads in both games, but the Blazers rallied in both games.
The Billikens pushed across two runs in the third inning for a 2-0 lead. The Blazers tied the game in the fourth and took the lead with two runs in the fifth. UAB's Megan Stephenson gave up just three hits in picking up the win. Heather Hubert absorbed her first loss of the season.
In game two, the Billikens scored first in the top of the fourth inning. Saint Louis used one hit and took advantage of a UAB error for a 1-0 lead. UAB took the lead in the fourth inning when Kai Paul hit a two-home run. In the fifth inning, SLU put two more runs on the board on three hits to retake the lead 3-2. Another homer by UAB tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run to center field, 3-3. In the bottom of the seventh inning Kristin Stanfill scored the game-winning run on a single by Clifannie Engram.
Saint Louis dips to 11-4 overall, 0-3 in Conference USA. UAB improves to 20-7, 3-0 in C-USA. The Billikens continue their road swing with a three-game series at defending C-USA champion Southern Miss beginning on Saturday.
