The Saint Louis University softball team jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Louisville Cardinals rallied for a 7-3 win in the second day of the University of Louisville Invitational at Ulmer Stadium.
The Billikens broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the third when Nicole Bohnenstiehl laced a two-out single to right field and moved to second when Adrie Bogaars reached on a Louisville error. Beth Yagge drew a walk to load the bases and set up Janet Venorsky's three-run triple and give Saint Louis a 3-0 lead.
The Cardinals cameback with four runs in the sixth. Aja Sherman's three-run double tied the game, and Kenzie Meisenburg's triple gave the Cards a 4-3 lead. U of L added three insurance runs in the seventh.
Jessica Rak (13-8) picked up the win in relief, holding the Billikens scoreless on three hits and striking out three batters in three innings pitched. It was her third straight win over the Bills.
Venorsky led Saint Louis going two for three with three RBI. Nicole Bohnenstiehl (5-7) took the loss, allowing seven runs, six of them earned, on 12 hits and struck out five. The Billikens lashed out nine hits in the game.
