April 11, 2002

Final Stats

Clarksville, Tenn. - The Saint Louis University softball team ran its winning streak to four with a doubleheader sweep at Austin Peay. The Billikens took game one 6-1 and notched a 4-2 triumph in game two. During game one, Adrie Bogaars set a new home run record with her sixth on the season. In addition, Nicole Bohnenstiehl tied the single-season RBI record with her 22nd run driven in.

The Billikens scored all the runs they would need in the top of the first of game one. Adrie Bogaars drilled her six home run of the year to set a new school mark. The previous record of five was set last season by Meredith Henry. After Austin Peay scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, Janet Venorsky blasted a 2-run home run to make the score 5-1. In the sixth, Jeffery singled, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. Bohnenstiehl plated Jeffery for her 22nd RBI of the season, tying the school mark first set by Dawn Elser in 1987. Bohnenstiehl allowed only two hits in the game and struckout a season-high 13 batters to pick up the win.

In game two, the Lady Govs took an early 1-0 lead on a sac fly in the first inning. The Billikens rallied in the fourth inning. Nicole Bohnenstiehl walked and Bogaars laced an RBI triple to tie the game. Janet Venorsky drilled a two-run homer for a 4-1 SLU lead. Misty Claude, who drove in all three Austin Peay runs during the doubleheader, walked with the bases loaded to make the score 4-2. But Janet Venorsky powered the Billiken offense with a 3-for-3 outing at the plate.

The Billikens improve to 17-19 on the season. Austin Peay falls to 13-26-1.
