Final Stats
Charlotte, N.C. -
With a 5-0 victory over Charlotte on Sunday, senior Nicole Bohnenstiehl became the winningest pitcher in Saint Louis University softball history with her 31st career win. Her win total tops the previous record of 30 set by Mikki McPherson from 1990-1993. The Billiken victory was the sixth straight, after opening the season with five losses.
Saint Louis scored two runs in the first, one in the second and one in the third to give Bohnenstiehl all the support she needed. She added her solo homer in the seventh to close out the scoring as the Bills won all three meetings on the weekend. Bohnenstiehl had nine strikeouts in posting the shutout win. Melissa Quist tallied two runs, while Kerri Higgins and Adrienne May both had two hits on the day.
The Billikens improve to 6-5 overall and even their record in Conference USA at 3-3. The 49ers fall to 12-14, 3-5 in C-USA play. SLU returns home on Wed., March 26, when nationally-ranked DePaul visits The Billiken Sports Center for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
