Billikens Move Past George Washington 3-1

Washington D.C. - Saint Louis saw four hitters reach double figures as the Billikens moved past George Washington 3-1 in Atlantic 10 volleyball action on Friday in Washington D.C. Tatyana Menshikova and Angela Powers paced the Billikens with 19 kills apiece.

The Billikens opened quickly and established early momentum with a 30-19 win in game one. The Bills hit .333 in the game while holding GWU to a match-low .077. The Colonials rallied in the second game with their best effort of the night. GWU hit .390 with 19 kills to even the match.

The Billikens answered with their best hitting game of the evening in game three. Saint Louis had 15 kills on just 29 swings en route to a .414 hitting percentage. The Bills pounded out 18 kills and finished game four with a .378 kill rate, while GWU managed only a .143 in the final game.

Powers had only two errors while posting her 19 kills and hit .447 for the match. Menshikova hit .349 while registering her 19 kills. Lauren Christman hit . 409 and added 11 kills with seven blocks. Sutton Lasater added 10 kills and a match-high eight blocks. Aida Antanaviciute had a match-high 17 digs, and Erin McClanahan had 14. Lauren Boissevain handed out 53 assists. Juliene McLaughlin led the Colonials with 12 kills. The Billikens hit .342 in the match, doubled GWU's block total and finished with seven more digs.

The Billikens improve to 8-10 overall and even their Atlantic 10 record at 2-2. The Colonials dip to 7-11 overall, 1-4 in the A-10. The Bills continue A-10 action at fellow first-year A-10 member Charlotte on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).
