Martin, Tenn. - The Saint Louis softball team had one win in three games in the first day of action at the UT-Martin Tournament on Saturday. The Billikens lost to IUPUI 9-4, shut out Butler 4-0 and fell to Belmont 4-3.

In the season opener, IUPUI pushed across four runs in the top of the seventh to beat the Bills. In the bottom of the first, Adrienne May doubled and scored on a Kara Sell fielder's choice. In the third, May again tallied a run, this time touching home on an Ashlee Heady RBI single. Jenna Renner reached on an error, and Allison Appenfeller and Beth Schomaker both scored. Lorena Floccari started for the Bills and struck out six but took the loss.

In the Butler game, Beth Schomaker singled to lead off the second and took second after Appenfeller was hit by a pitch. Christy Ernst singled up the middle to plate the game-winning run. The Billikens added runs in the next three innings as Ashley Levan hurled a complete game four-hit shutout.

In the final contest of day one, Belmont rallied with two runs in the bottom of the fourth for a one-run win over the Billikens. AshLeigh Williams cranked out the first homer of the season for the Billikens in the top of the second. Sell singled in the third, moved to second on a Heady sac bunt, and scored on a Belmont error. In the fourth, the Billikens went up 3-2 when Renner, Katie Hoffarth and May all reached. Sell hit a sac fly to left to drive in Renner with the go-ahead run. However, the Bruins rallied to hand SLU its second loss of the day.

The Billikens play two games on Sunday to finish up the tourney as they face host UT-Martin and Indiana State.
