Southern Miss Beats Bills 9-0

March 20, 2005

Final Stats

St. Louis - Southern Miss closed out a three-game Conference USA series with a 9-0 win over the Saint Louis Billikens on Sunday afternoon at The Billiken Sports Center. The Billikens dip to 8-12 overall, 1-5 C-USA, while the Golden Eagles up their mark to 17-15, 5-1 in C-USA.

The game was scoreless through three innings until the Golden Eagles broke open the game in the fourth. USM loaded the bases, and Allison Bullard drove in the first two runs of the game. A sac fly added a third run before Southern Miss again loaded the bases. Jennifer Fox cleared the basepaths with a double to left. Ashley Davis closed out the seven-run frame with a triple. Southern Miss added two runs in the fifth to end the scoring.

The Billikens got singles from AshLeigh Williams in the second, and Beth Schomaker in the third but were unable to bring them home. Kara Sell doubled with one out in the fourth but did not score, either. SLU's best scoring chance was in the fifth. Logan Justice had a pinch-hit single, and pinch runner Samantha Horn took second after a Southern Miss error. However, the Bills lined into a double play, and USM starter Danielle Wymer retired Adrienne May to end the threat. May had built a 12-game hitting streak but saw it end with an 0-for-3 day as the Bills had only four hits on the day. Billiken starter Lorena Floccari lasted 3-2/3 innings and was handed the loss.
