Charlotte, N.C. -
Adrienne May paced the Saint Louis Billikens with three hits and an RBI in a 4-1 win at Charlotte on Saturday morning. The Bills won the first and third games of the Conference USA series and improve to 10-13 overall, 3-6 in C-USA. The 49ers fall to 11-22-1, 2-7 in the league.
Kara Sell scored the first run of the game in the top of the first. She reached on a fielder's choice and took second on a walk. After a Charlotte error, Logan Justice brought her home. In the fourth inning, Katie Hoffarth led off with a single, and May added a hit. Both runners moved up a base on a 49ers' fielding error. Ashlee Heady drove in the second SLU run with a single to left.
The Billikens put away the game with two runs in the fifth. Justice doubled to begin the frame. With two outs, Hoffarth doubled Justice in, and May chased home Hoffarth with an RBI single. The 49ers got a run back in the fifth on a solo home run, but that was all Charlotte could muster against Billiken starter Lorena Floccari. The freshman scattered six hits and notched three strikeouts to pick up her sixth win of the season.
