March 6, 2005

Final Stats

Marietta, Ga. - The Saint Louis Billiken softball team made a first-inning run stand up to edge Middle Tennessee State 1-0 in a game played at Al Bishop Complex in Marietta, Ga., on Sunday afternoon.

Adrienne May doubled with one out, and she moved to third base on a wild pitch by MTSU. May then scored on a sac fly by Kara Sell to put the Billikens up 1-0. The Bills threatened in the third, putting two runners on, but MTSU prevented the Billikens from adding to their lead.

Middle Tennessee State pushed a runner to third base in the fourth but could not deliver a two-out hit as the Billikens kept the Blue Raiders scoreless. MTSU loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but SLU starter Lorena Floccari got Jennifer Dorais to fly out to center to end the game. Floccari registered two strikeouts and went the distance as the Billikens improved to 3-5 on the year. Middle Tennessee State falls to 3-9.

The Billikens begin Conference USA play this Tuesday with a three-game series at East Carolina.
