Saint Louis earned a split of a softball doubleheader at Southeast Missouri State on Thursday evening. The Billikens took game one 7-3, but the Redhawks won game two 8-3.
The top four hitters in the SLU batting lineup produced six of the team's seven hits and drove in all seven runs. Adrienne May tallied two hits and scored three times, while Kara Sell drove in three runs. The Bills grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but SEMO scored a single tally in the bottom of the first and second to take a 2-1 advantage. But the Billikens scored five runs in the fifth to take control of the the game. Lorena Floccari never allowed SEMO to string together a rally and picked up her 11th win of the season. The freshman had four strikeouts while scattering seven hits in the game.
The Redhawks scored three runs in the bottom of the second, stretched the lead to seven before holding off a late SLU rally. The Billikens finally got on the board in the fifth. The Bills added two runs in the sixth, but they were unable to cut any further into the lead. AshLeigh Williams went 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Billikens.
The Billikens move to 16-21 on the season, and the Redhawks are 20-16. Saint Louis returns home for a Conference USA doubleheader on Saturday against DePaul, beginning at 1 p.m.
