Final Stats
St. Louis -
DePaul completed a three-game Conference USA series sweep of Saint Louis with a 6-0 win on Sunday afternoon. The Billikens dip to 16-24 overall, 4-14 in C-USA, while the first-place Blue Demons are now 27-12 overall, 14-1 C-USA.
The Blue Demons scored all the runs they would need in the second inning. Marcy Wilus hit a solo home run down the left field line to put DePaul up 1-0. On the next pitch, Sara Polensky added her own solo shot, and DePaul added one more run on an Ashley Parker RBI single. The Billikens had a golden opportunity to score in the fourth. Ashlee Heady doubled to start the frame, and Kara Sell worked a walk. AshLeigh Williams earned a walk to load the bases with no outs. However, DePaul starter Megan Huitink retired the next three Billikens to keep SLU off the scoreboard. The Blue Demons put the game away with three runs in the top of the sixth. Huitink gave up only three hits to the Bills, and Heady accounted two of them with a single and a double.
The Billikens host UT-Martin on Tue., April 19, for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at The Billiken Sports Center.
