Game One Stats

Game Two Stats

Houston, Texas - The Houston Cougars swept the first two games of a three-game series against the Saint Louis Billikens on Saturday afternoon in Houston. The Cougars no-hit the Bills in an 8-0 win, then posted a 7-1 victory in game two. The Billikens dip to 13-19 overall, 4-10 in Conference USA, while the Cougars improve to 22-20, 5-6 in C-USA.

Cougar pitcher Angel Shamblin gave up a walk to SLU leadoff hitter Adrienne May, but did not surrender a hit as Houston kept the Billiken offense in check. After drawing the walk, May stole second but was stranded there. The Cougars scored five runs in the first to take control. Jenilee Skender had a two-run double, while Brandi Clark hit a three-run homer for all the offense UH would need.

In the second game, Houston broke open a close game with three runs in the fifth to pull away late. The Cougars threatened to score when they loaded the bases in the bottom of the first against Billiken starter Ashley Levan. However, she escaped without giving up a run by inducing a groundout. But in the third, Brandi Clark hit her second homer of the day with a solo blast, and another Houston run scored on a SLU error. In the fourth, Beth Schomaker launched a solo homer to cut the Bills' deficit to 2-1. However, the Cougars used four hits and took advantage of another SLU fielding error to push across three runs and went on for the win. The Billikens were limited to just three hits in the second outing by Houston's Carla Kennimer.

The teams will finish up the series with a single game at Cougar Field at noon on Sunday.
