Billikens Drop Season Finale 9-1 To USF

May 8, 2005

Final Stats

St. Louis - In their final Conference USA game, the Saint Louis Billikens dropped a 9-1 decision to the visiting USF Bulls. The Billikens end their season with a record of 18-31-1 overall, 4-20 in C-USA. The Bulls completed a three-game series sweep and improve to 38-24, 15-9 in C-USA.

The Bulls tallied a run in the top of the first and then scored all the runs they would need in the second. Laura Wolf hit a two-run home run to push USF out to a 3-0 lead, and Carmela Liwag added an RBI single for a four-run margin.

Trailing 5-0, the Billikens pushed across a run in the bottom of the fourth. AshLeigh Williams reached on a fielder's choice and moved into scoring position on Jill Pursell's single. Christy Ernst hit what appeared to be an inning ending grounder, but the Bulls misplayed the ball and Williams came around to touch home. USF put the game away with four runs and eased to the win.

USF's Bree Spence gave up just four hits to pick up the win. Lorena Floccari was handed the loss for the Billikens. Beth Schomaker enjoyed a 2-for-3 outing and accounted for half of SLU's hits.
