Box Score

WASHINGTON D.C. - Saint Louis was too much for George Washington to handle in Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball action on Sunday pounding the Colonials 30-17, 30-18, 30-18 to roll to its seventh straight win, the longest unbeaten streak in head coach Anne Kordes' tenure.

Both teams were plagued by errors at the start of game one before SLU (17-5, 6-2 A-10) pulled ahead 7-4 on kills by Sammi McCloud, Whitney Roth and Lauren Christman. GW didn't allow the Bills to get too far ahead until Saint Louis put together a couple of runs to take a commanding lead. With the score tied at 13-13, a couple Colonial mistakes and two Bridget Fonke service aces made it 17-13. The Billikens continued to extend the lead with kills from McCloud and Christman for the game-one victory.

George Washington led early in game two before SLU knotted the score at 9-9. Kills from Sutton Lasater and Fonke allowed the Billikens to take the lead for good and never relinquish it. The final margin of 12 points was SLU's largest lead of the game. Lasater led the Bills, who hit .385, with six kills in the second game.

SLU ran out to a dominating 8-1 lead and never looked back in game three. McCloud had seven of her match-high 12 kills in the final game. Once the Billikens held a double-digit advantage at 16-6, they never let it slip back into single digits, leading by as many as 16 points en route to their sixth consecutive league win.

McCloud posted her fifth double-double of the season with the aforementioned 12 kills and 11 digs. Christman followed with 11 kills and seven blocks while Fonke had 10 kills and three service aces.

The Billikens return to the court on Friday, Oct. 26 against league leader Xavier (19-6, 9-0 A-10), which knocked #12 Dayton (21-1, 8-1 A-10) from the unbeaten ranks with a 3-1 victory last Friday. SLU will face the Musketeers at 7 p.m. at the Bauman-Eberhardt Center. On Sunday, Oct. 28, the Bills will take on the Dayton Flyers at 1 p.m.
