CONWAY, Ark. - Saint Louis dropped a 6-4 decision at Central Arkansas Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series at Gary Hogan Field.
The Billikens dip to 3-3 on the season, while Central Arkansas also moves to 3-3. SLU hosts Southeast Missouri State Tuesday at 2 p.m. at The Billiken Sports Center in its home opener.
Danny Brock also posted RBIs.
SLU opened the scoring in the top of the second when Fernandez doubled home Zach Miller, who singled to lead off the inning.
Central Arkansas answered with a run in its half of the second, and broke the game open with three runs in the third and another in the fourth to stretch out to a 5-1 advantage through four innings.
Levine made it 5-2 in the top of the fifth when he led off with a home run to left, but the Bears got that run back in the bottom half of the inning to make it 6-2.
In the sixth, Ben Braaten started off the inning with a walk, and came all around to score on a Jon Myers double.
SLU had a base runner in both the seventh and eighth innings but couldn't put together a rally. The Billikens did get a run in the ninth on a two-out RBI single by Brock, but that is as close as SLU would get as Central Arkansas took the series with the 6-4 victory.
Tommy Coovert (1-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in 2-1/3 innings. Mancuso pitched the final three innings and allowed no runs on just one hit.
