Box Score

MURRAY, Ky. - Saint Louis dropped a 12-2 decision at Murray State Sunday in the finale of a three-game set at Reagan Field.

The loss dips the Billikens to 8-8, while Murray State improves to 6-8. Jon Myers had a team-high two hits for the Billikens, who mustered just six hits on the afternoon. Zach Miller and Mike Levine registered RBIs for the Bills.

Murray State freshman Colton Moore, who hit for the cycle in the series opener, led the Thoroughbreds with four hits. Kyle Tiernan had a team-best three RBIs.

Jerry Mancuso (1-1) took the loss on the mound after yielding 11 runs (eight earned) on 13 hits. He struck out three and walked three. MSU hurler Alex Love earned his first win of the season after twirling 5-1/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just two hits in that span.

The Billikens play their next four games at home. Indiana State and Evansville visit Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, for 3 p.m. first pitches. Next weekend, the Billikens host Kansas at The Billiken Sports Center for 1 p.m. starts Saturday and Sunday. The Jayhawks just took two of three games against previously unbeaten and No. 1 LSU in Baton Rouge.

Murray State opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, but SLU quickly tied it up in the top of the second. Ben Braaten led off with a double to right center, and came around to score on a Miller RBI base knock to left.

The `Breds scored again in the bottom half of the second to regain the lead, but SLU responded in the top of the fourth to even the score. With one out, Myers singled. Andrew Guerra was hit by a pitch to put runners and first and second. Levine then scorched a double to left center to plate Myers and make it a 2-2 ballgame.

However, MSU would score the next 10 runs to coast to the 12-2 victory. In the bottom of the fourth the `Breds plated three runs thanks in part to a pair of Billiken errors. MSU scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth to open up an 11-2 lead. Murray scored another run in the bottom of the eighth for the 12-2 final.
