Box Score

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Saint Louis dropped an 8-4 decision against Southeast Missouri State Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Capaha Field.

The loss dips the Billikens to 11-10, while SEMO improves to 12-8 with its sixth straight victory.

The Bills and Redhawks combined for five home runs, accounting for all four of SLU's runs and nine of the 12 runs scored in the game. The Billikens, who entered the week ranked first in the Atlantic 10 and 14th nationally with 29 home runs, belted three. Southeast had two, the big one a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth that gave the Redhawks a lead they would not relinquish.

J.D. Dunn belted a shot over the left-field fence to make it 2-0 Billikens.

That remained the score until the bottom of the fourth, when Louie Haseltine recorded a grand slam off SLU starter Alex Alemann to give the Redhawks a 4-2 advantage.

SEMO tacked on another run in the sixth to make it 5-2, but SLU pulled to within one in the top of the seventh thanks to a two-run homer by Ben Braaten. Myers began the inning with a single to left, and Braaten sent him home with his first dinger of the season.

However, that would be all the runs the Billikens could muster, and SEMO pushed across three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth for the 8-4 victory.

Dunn finished with two hits, while Danny Brock and Zach Miller also broke into the hits column. Alemann was charged with the loss after allowing five runs on six hits in six innings.

The Billikens return to action tomorrow when they face No. 17 Ole Miss at Swayze Field in Oxford. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
