OXFORD, Miss. - Myers went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, but the 17th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels prevailed 14-5 Wednesday in non-conference baseball action in front of 5,924 fans at Oxford-University/Swayze Field.
The loss dips the Billikens to 11-11 on the season and ends a three-game winning streak against ranked opponents. Ole Miss avenges a loss to the Billikens last year and improves to 17-5.
Saint Louis started the scoring with a run in the top of the third. Ben Braaten posted back-to-back singles to load the bases. Sophomore second baseman Zach Miller walked with the bases juiced to plate Mancuso and make it 1-0 Billikens.
But Ole Miss took control with a seven-run bottom of the third. SLU allowed a pair of walks and four singles, but it was the Rebels' Kevin Mort who provided the punch with a three-run homer. SLU would later get out of a bases-loaded jam, but Ole Miss took a 7-1 lead into the fourth.
The Billikens responded in a big way, scoring four runs in the top half of the fourth to pull within two. All runs came with two outs, as J.D. Dunn singled and Danny Brock drove them both home with a single through the right side. Those were the 37th and 38th RBIs of the season for Brock, who entered the week ranked third in the country in runs driven in.
Myers, who entered the game 26th in the nation in homers, went deep to plate Brock and make it 7-5 Ole Miss. It was the eighth home run of the season for Myers.
However, the Rebels would go on to score the next seven runs of the contest to claim the 14-5 victory.
Brock ended up 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.
