Webb scored the next 11 Billiken points on a free-throw-line jumper and three
3-pointers. Two Eggert free throws gave Saint Louis its largest lead, 29-19,
with 6:37 remaining.
However, George Washington outscored SLU 20-5 the rest of the half. Myers
netted 10 of her 20 first-half points during the run, and the Colonials took a
39-34 advantage to the locker room.
After GW stretched the lead to nine with two quick baskets to begin the
second half, Eggert and Castleman scored four points each in an 8-3 spurt that
narrowed the gap to 46-42. The Colonials responded with a 9-2 flurry to take
their largest lead, 55-44, with 9:31 to play.
The Billikens again sliced the GW lead to four, this time with a 10-3
run. Morgan
Johnson ignited the spurt with a trey
from the left corner, and Lorreal Jones gathered an offensive rebound and scored. Gearlds drove for two, and
Castleman turned an offensive rebound into a three-point play to make it a
58-54 game with 6:31 left.
The Billikens got the ball back with a chance to make it a one-possession
game but committed a turnover. The Colonials scored on their next two
possessions for a 62-54 advantage at the 4:58 mark. SLU whittled the deficit to
six points twice on baskets by Jones and Eggert, but GW held the Bills
